Congratulations to MIMG graduate students Yennifer Delgado and Declan Winters for being awarded the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the quality, vitality, and strength of the scientific and engineering workforce in the United States. The five-year fellowship provides three years of financial support, including an annual stipend.

Yennifer's research focuses on how the phosphorylation of the SARS-CoV-2 membrane protein regulates protein-protein interactions during viral assembly. Declan's research explores how alphaviruses use host-driven post-translational modifications to navigate their lifecycle. The NSF GRFP award will support Yennifer and Declan's research and professional goals, allowing them to conduct innovative studies on viral-host interactions.

Yennifer and Declan express their deep gratitude for the support provided by the T32 MPTG fellowship and all the members of the Bouhaddou Lab. Yennifer states, "I have truly enjoyed getting to know the MPTG fellows and discussing science together. The MPTG directors and staff have also been very kind and supportive, making my experience in this fellowship amazing."
