Requisites Definitions at UCLA

UCLA has specific definitions for requisite requirements:

  • Requisite: Also known as a “prerequisite”. Students must have completed or be in-progress to complete a course’s requisite requirement any term before enrollment to be allowed to enroll. Unless stated otherwise, all requisites listed below are enforced requisites.
  • Co-Requisite: A course suggested or required to be taken the same quarter as the listed course.
  • Preparation or Recommended Requisite: Instructors/faculty may recommend specific courses or requisite knowledge for the best chance of success in the course.

Questions or Concerns about Requisites?

MIMG Advisors can assist with understanding requisites for MIMG requirements. If students are seeking exceptions to required requisites for MIMG requirements or MIMG courses, students can please email undergrad@microbio.ucla.edu

Please connect with UCLA College Advisors if needing support navigating non-MIMG UCLA/College requirements. Students can confirm their College Advising Unit at the top of the Degree Audit (within MyUCLA).
