Advising Appointments

Expectations

We offer 30-minute in-person and Zoom MIMG advising appointments for in-depth or complex questions about your progress in the MIMG major. You can also check in with us about any challenges you're facing that you need additional support with-we're here to help!

We kindly ask that you:

• Please email us at undergrad@microbio.ucla.edu with your UID or attend Drop-In Advising for quick or time-sensitive questions.
• Arrive on time or notify us via email if you're running late (we offer a 10-minute grace period).
• If needing to reschedule or cancel, please do so as soon as possible to allow another student to book the appt. time. If you are unable to cancel using the system, please email MIMG advisors at undergrad@microbio.ucla.edu to cancel your appt. 

We appreciate your collaboration in making our advising services accessible to everyone. Your thoughtfulness helps us serve you and your fellow classmates!

How to Prepare for an MIMG Advising Meeting:

1. Ensure that the meeting doesn't conflict with other commitments, is set to the correct time zone, and set a reminder/alarm for the meeting. 

2. Think about and/or write down key questions in advance. 

3. Refer to our MIMG Student Resources that apply to your questions (i.e. MIMG Course Planning Resources, Undergrad. Research Resources, and Study Abroad). 

4. If you'd like to discuss long-term MIMG course planning, please kindly review our MIMG Course Planning Resources & Expectations. Please prepare a draft plan in your preferred format, referring to our sample MIMG plans if helpful to you. 

5. If meeting via Zoom, please ensure you have a good connection and a quiet space to meet.
