Overcoming Ovarian Cancer Resistance and Evasion to CAR-T Cell Therapy by Harnessing Allogeneic CAR-NKT Cells

Dr. Lili Yang and her lab have created a new type of treatment called CAR-NKT cell therapy, which is proving to be better at fighting ovarian cancer than traditional CAR-T cell therapy. Unlike other treatments that need to be customized for each patient and can be very expensive, CAR-NKT cells can be made more easily and cost about $5,000 per dose. 

“This is the culmination of over a decade of work in my lab and represents over six years of collaboration with gynecologic oncologist Dr. Sanaz Memarzadeh,” shared Dr. Lili Yang.

This new therapy also shows potential for treating other difficult cancers, such as lung and brain tumors.
