UCLA-Caltech Medical Scientist Training Program student Joey Li Awarded F30 Fellowship

We are excited to announce that Joey Li from Dr. O’Sullivan’s Lab is the recipient of the 2024-2025 Mitsuo Takasugi Award!

This award honors outstanding achievements in graduate student research and pays tribute to Dr. Mitsuo Takasugi, an immunologist at UCLA. The award was established by the Takasugi family in memory of Dr. Takasugi after he passed away in 2008. Originally a high school biology teacher, Dr. Takasugi returned to graduate school to pursue his passion and was dedicated to promoting and furthering the education of students interested in graduate studies.

MIMG is pleased to honor Joey’s promising career and research. The funds will support Joey in attending this year’s 3rd International School on Advanced Immunology in Japan. Joey expressed that he is honored to receive the Mitsuo Takasugi Award and continue Dr. Takasugi’s legacy of lifelong learning and mentorship. "With the help of this award, I am excited to share my work in Osaka this fall, learn from world leaders in immunology, and bring their expertise back to UCLA."

Congratulations, Joey!
